Years ago, the great grandfather of Kenai-San planted trees for the beams and posts of his future family’s house in the mountain/farm region of Takayama, Japan. After decades of time, and careful tending by the ensuing generations of his family, these special trees were cut, dried and used to construct a wonderful classic Japanese country home for a family he would never live to see. Maybe this is the best definition of sustainability anywhere! We were so fortunate to be asked by the Kanai family to create a new house for them using their grandfather’s legacy.
